Trader Joe's Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Brownie Mix Review

As I said in my last post, Trader Joe’s is great for gluten free products.  I love their pizza crust, which I previously reviewed, but when a sweet craving hits, Trader Joe’s gluten free chocolate chip brownie mix is the way to go.

When you go to the baking section of Trader Joe’s, you will notice quite a few gluten free items, such as their pumpkin bread or their pancake mix.  One thing that you should never leave the store without is their brownie mix.

I try to stay away from mixes, and make as much as I can from scratch, but you can’t beat the price and taste of their brownie mix.  It also required minimal ingredients, making them easy to make.

I have seen gluten free mixes for up to $7, but nobody wants to pay that just to make a small pan of brownies.  The mix is $3.99 according to their website, and compared to other brands, making these is way more affordable.

Besides the price, the taste is what really brings it home.  Fresh out of the oven, the chocolate chips are warm and gooey, and you are hit with a rich chocolate flavor.  While these are very sweet brownies, I am able to overlook that because everything else about the brownie is fantastic.

This mix is very simple, requiring only ¼ cup of both oil and water, and an egg.  All you have to do is stir it together, pour it into a greased pan, and bake for 35-42 minutes.

Trader Joe’s gluten free brownie mix is the best semi homemade dessert I have had.  Everything about it is great, from the price, to the taste, and the simplicity.  The company’s website suggests adding chopped walnuts for extra flavor, and I would love to try that in the future.  One of my favorite things too do is add a spoonful of yogurt in addition to the oil for an interesting flavor, and slight tang.   These brownies are delicious, and I hope to take my word and try them out.
